FEATURED KEYNOTE SPEAKERS:
LEWIS MEHL-MADRONA,
M.D., Ph.D. graduated from Stanford University School of Medicine
in 1975, and completed residencies in family practice and in psychiatry
at the University of Vermont College of Medicine. He is board-certified
in family practice, psychiatry, and geriatrics. . Dr. Mehl-Madrona
is the author of Coyote Medicine (Scribner, 1997), a book about
his efforts to integrate his Native American heritage with his
conventional medical training. At the Continuum Center for Health
and Healing, he is the Clinical Program Director.. His clinical
practice includes acupuncture, botanical and nutritional medicine,
homeopathy, manipulative (hands-on) therapies, mind-body medicine
(especially hypnosis, visualization, biofeedback and cognitive
therapy), community therapies including ritual and ceremony, and
spiritual medicine. His practice is inspired by Native American
philosophy.
KATHLEEN
NOBLE, Ph.D.is the Halbert and Nancy Robinson Professor and the
Director of the Robinson Center for Young Scholars at the University
of Washington. She is also an Associate Professor of Women Studies
and a licensed psychologist. She received her Ph.D. in Counseling
Psychology in 1984 from the University of Washington. Her books
include The Sound of the Silver Horn: Reclaiming the Heroism in
Contemporary Women's Lives (1994); Remarkable Women: Perspectives
on Female Talent Development (1996, co-edited with K. Arnold and
R. Subotnik); and Riding the Windhorse: Spiritual Intelligence
and the Growth of the Self (2001). She has published numerous
articles and given over 50 invited lectures about the psychology
of talent development and the effects of educational acceleration
on the social and emotional development of gifted adolescents.
GARY E.
SCHWARTZ, Ph.D. is professor of psychology, medicine, neurology,
psychiatry and surgery at the University of Arizona and director
of its Human Energy Systems Laboratory. After receiving his doctorate
from Harvard University, he served as a professor of psychology
and psychiatry at Yale University, director of the Yale Psychophysiology
Center, and co-director of the Yale Behavioral Medicine Clinic.
He has published more than four hundred scientific papers, edited
eleven academic books, and is the co-author, with Linda G. Russek,
Ph.D., of The Living Energy Universe.
